Adding 0 and 1 10 seconds for each problem. Use flash cards at home that work with this rule. Grades are taken on the last day of school for the week.
Ten rules for addition:
1. zero plus rule: Any number added to zero is that number
2. one plus rule: Any number added to one is the next counting number
3. two plus rule: Any number added to 2 is the next even number or odd number depending on which one you started with.
4. doubles rule: you need to memorize the doubles
5. doubles plus one: When adding two numbers in counting order double the lesser and add one
6. shared doubles: When adding number that are in order but one is missing, double the middle number example: 4+6= 5 is missing in that counting order so double the 5
7. tens rule: you need to memorize the combinations of 10
8. tens plus rule: when adding 10 to any number just add one number to the tens column and leave the ones alone.
9. nines rule: since you know your 10 plus, when adding 9 think ten plus and then subtract one
10. Memorize the rest of the fact families; there are very few left 3+6, 4+8, 5+8, 7+4, 8+3,
